Can Wang (/‘tsan-‘wɔŋ/) | 王璨

Can Wang (/‘tsan-‘wɔŋ/) | 王璨 is a dance artist currently based in Philadelphia and New York. She is of Chinese origin and influenced by both contemporary and classical dance, and Western and Eastern culture. She has been a company dancer of Buglisi Dance Theatre, and has performed works by Dafi Altabeb, Stephanie Batten-Bland, Roy Assaf, Andrea Miller, Nacho Duato, Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Jose Limon among others. She is a prizewinner of the 2012 Chinese Lotus Dance Competition and was invited to tour with the National Ballet of China as a guest artist.

Can has collaborated with internationally acclaimed directors, visual artists, and composers including Sommer Ulrickson, Alexander Polzin, Guillermo Laporta, Tagore Gonzalez, Chen Dongfan, Cheng Jing Kho among others. Can’s own choreographic works have been invited to perform both virtually and in-person at The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance(USA), Dumbo Dance Festival(USA), National Sawdust(USA), Arko Arts Theatre(South Korea), Beijing Dance Festival(China) among others. Her solo work “The Power of Waiting” has been selected to perform at the Festival of International Contemporary Dance in Mexico City in 2022. Can is an alumna of the University of the Arts(MFA Dance 22’), The Juilliard School(BFA Dance 19’), Beijing Dance Academy, and Unitec Institute of Technology.
